This contest is being held to promote awareness of stormwater pollution prevention and the role it plays in keeping our waters clean and safe by using storm drains as a canvas to educate residents about stormwater pollution through art. The 2026 Paint the Drains Art Contest seeks to use art to educate the public about watershed health.

The Young Texan Ambassador (YTA) program supports the next generation of community and environmental leaders.
The program serves youth ages 15-25 for a 9-month service learning and environmental education program. Each ambassador completes a cleanup and a capstone service project in their community.
Participants value connecting with other like-minded young people who share their passion for the environment. The program has been particularly successful in attracting young adults from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
As a completely online program, the program attracts young Texans from across the state. All required webinars are online, and service learning opportunities take place in each Ambassador’s home community.
The program has been replicated in at least four other states using our program design as a model, and we host virtual meetups for the Young Texas Ambassadors to meet with their counterparts from other states.
